Trends for 2022

2 years ago by

As we look forward to 2022, we have got one thing on our minds, and that is what trends are we set to see in our home interiors as the New Year edges closer? 2021 saw us getting expansive with our colour palette and experimenting with brighter and bolder colours as we spent more time in our homes than ever before.

Below we look into three key trends that we’re set to see more of in 2022 to help inspire your next redecoration project.

Bring the outside in

As we continue to seek comfort in nature, we’ll be sure to see this reflected in home interiors throughout 2022. Natural greens and earthy browns will help us reconnect with nature from inside our homes to mirror the serene environment of the outdoors, with Benjamin Moore and Mylands Colours of the Year echoing this.

Dulux named ‘Bright Skies’ as their Colour of the Year for 2022. A fresh and revitalising hue that captures feelings of fresh starts and new beginnings. This versatile shade will breathe life into our homes and complement the natural tones of greens and browns.

Painted Ceilings

What is now known as the fifth wall, 2022 will see homeowners introducing colour to the ceilings when taking on their next redecoration projects.

By bringing up the colour of the walls through to the ceiling, you will open up your space by creating the illusion of higher ceilings – this works particularly well in narrow hallways that often don’t get much natural light. Lighter colours will help the room to feel more open. Alternatively, use deeper shades to create an intimate and cosy feeling.

Colour Drenching

Confidence is key when it comes to colour, and the colour drenching trend is set to stay for 2022. Taking one colour, or tonal versions of it, to flood a whole room can seem a little daunting, but the end result is nothing short of stylish. Using deep jewel-like shades when colour-drenching will not only make a statement but also create a cocoon-like feeling in your space. Alternatively, use bright hues such as yellow in kitchens and bathrooms to create a permanent sense of cheer.

Think walls, skirting, furniture, and textiles– even the ceiling is up for grabs….
